Avid MC5 upgrade quandry
I’ve been running MC4 very successfully with this machine:
Dell Precision 670 with dual Pentium Zenon 3ghz processors; 4gig memory, Quadro FX 1400 video card with 128 mb memory. Running Windows XP SP3.
Finally finished a project and tried to install MC5.First, I installed Windows 7 on a new hard drive and completely updated the install. It seemed to run very well.
I installed a few other programs and they all ran OK.
Then I installed MC5. The program loads. But then the fun ends. I can play the sample (clips and sequence) files OK in the source viewer and record viewer. But the timeline vanishes. And when I attempt to load a project from the MC4 install (with all the drives attached), it all gets very silly.
Is there a problem with this relatively old machine running Windows 7 and MC5? Should I try an install of MC5 with Windows XP? Or is there a setting somewhere that I’ve just missed?
Any counsel and advice would be welcome. And happy New Year to you all.
phil
