Avid MC software 3.0.1
Can someone please enlighten me as to Avid’s recommendation of running Quicktime 7.4.5 with the new MC 3.0.1 software? Thought I’d upgrade to 3.0.1 from 2.8 on my MAC with OS 10.4.11. Big mistake. Nothing but spinning wheels and crashes and trying to get the correct QT version is painful. Everything we tried to output was in black & white. Avid blamed it on the QT version running.
Our 2nd Avid is running just fine with MC 2.8 software, 7.5.5 Quicktime… all on OS 10.4.11 tiger. No problems.
We download the QT version they recommend at http://www.avidlinks.ts go to QT 7.4.5… download it and it reads QT 7.4.5 leopard !! ouch. The Avid tech guy in Belgium insists this is the way to go.
I don’t think so. Anyone have this issue? Think I’ll stay comfy with 2.8. -

With Avid software, you just can’t jump the shark on OS versions, QT versions, graphics drivers, etc. As long as you don’t, Avid will play nice and not give you the problems you are experiencing.
