    Hi everyone,

I recall there used to be a logging program for Avid where you could hook up a deck to any computer [without Avid hardware or software], and create bins for batch capturing with an actual Avid system later.

It was a free program as I recall. I looked on Avid’s download page but couldn’t see it.

We’re running an XPress Pro HD on a PC, digitising off a J30 DigiBeta using firewire, and hoping to create bins on another computer which would probably be a Mac, so ideally using firewire for the logging program, not a remote cable.

Anybody know if this is still possible?

    Cheers..

Hi its called “Avid Media Log” and yes, its a free program. You can register your product with Avid to get your password and then log in to the Avid Dowloadcenter to get your software. I cannot recall exactly, but, Media log used to be shipped along with the software pack.

Thanks, I hadn’t registered [freelancing here]. I’ll check to see if somebody has. Meantime, do you know if it’ll work with a firewire connection from a J30, or does it require a regular remote cable. That connection isn’t on the computer currently marked for the task.

    Cheers,

    Toby

The latest Windows version of MediaLog works with FireWire deck control.
