    Hello all,

I’m wondering if anyone has had any experiences getting footage that was digitized on an Avid (Symphony) meridien-based system into Premiere to work with.

I have a shoot at the end of next week. We are shooting a Chroma key based clip. The studio has said that we can use their facilities to digitize the footage from the shoot onto my external hard drive. Since it is chroma key, I would like to digitize in the highest quality, then bring this footage onto my home system to work with. I could rent a Betacam deck, but obviously if this would work I would prefer not to.

I have Premiere Pro 2 installed as part of the Production Studio Premium. I can download and install the Avid Codecs, but I am wondering if anyine has had any experience with this.

    Thanks for any insight,

    Mark

I’ve had nothing but heartache with this.

Make sure to export out of Avid as an AVI. This will reduce the problems.

So what you are telling me is that I cannot take the raw captured footage from Avid, I owuld have to do an export as an uncompressed AVI. Have you seen any field issues etc with this method ???

    Thanks

Ever try automaticduck? I’ve never used this before but a lot of people do. https://automaticduck.com/products/

I haven’t used the duck, but from what I can see, it will get Avid into AE, but not Premiere Pro, altough theorotically that should work.

    Thanks
