AVID –> FCP transfer project
I need to transfer a project from Avid Media Composer back to Final Cut, not to online– but to edit. So I need to get my sequence over and with all my bins.
What’s the best way to go about doing this?
On our Avid capture, we captured whole tapes, and applied the ALE to the footage (It made subclips and added information from the flex files.)
Right now I have several Bins in the Avid — and am trying to get as much transfered as possible.
I considered using Sebsky Tools — but I’m fine recapturing all of the tapes.
*Is there anyway to get Final Cut to Import the telecine log and apply it to a whole captured tape. (I’d hate to batch an entire tape)
Any suggestions?

We use it all the time to bring Avid projects into our FCP systems.
Export an AAF from your Avid project and open it up in FCP.

Not easily. You’d need to use EDL’s and those are never fun.

Trying not to buy Automatic Duck, because this is a one time move.I might go the EDL route.

Exactly. It takes 15 seconds to open a full 22 minute episode from an Avid AAF. Can’t imagine what the same process would be if we tried the EDL route.

Next best thing would be to rent an avid bay that has Automatic Duck – I don’t know where you are because your profile is ” ” but there may be a facility near you. It might save you 2-300 bucks.
If you don’t use the duck, you can do it the EDL way. This book might help if you go that route. https://www.ebooks.com/ebooks/book_display.asp?IID=183898

If it’s a one-off, you could simply pay a facility that has A. Duck to do the transfer for you.

Will this work if I have the AVID and PT sessions on a disc? I have been trying other avenues to convert it…but not working. I know this may have been addressed above, but any way to do a one time transfer without paying 500 bucks?
