Which broadcaster are exporting to? All of them have a delivery requirement document you can request to meet their needs.

You export what the broadcasters want you to give them. As Michael says, they all have different requirements. Some want tape, some want files…but they are very specific about it.

The main problem I have is that my audio is to hot and they seem to think I can export it at a lower dB level and I am having trouble knowing how to set and where I need to set perhaps a preset or somethin in order to get the audio at a -8db for them. I have been providing the commercials via QT mov or on a dvd but they say have to do extra work to get the audio at a lower level than I am giving them currenly. This is new to me because I have never had a problem ajusting the audio on other things like wedding and such. to be pleasing to the ear before I make a dvd I am using the audio mixing tool to lower volume. Thnaks!

Dude…you are now doing BROADCAST work. It is MUCH different then wedding videos. There are broadcast specs you need to follow…and they are strict. Audio typically is to never peak above -10db. You have to mix this manually to get it there, or do what most other people do, and have a professional audio mixer deal with this.

Thanks again man! I guess I need to buckle down and find learn where to make these adjustments on Avid. I have been an Avid user for several years. Thought.. “I knew more I know”! I appreciate your thoughts…wish you were here to walk me through the tools I need to do this with. I guess the info is the those darn manuals some where between the book covers. Is the a tutorial I can get a hold of to help shorten up my learning curve some where?

Was great that you responded…one day I hope I grow up and be able to help someone with their problems too!

    Thanks.

I have no idea. This is stuff I learned on the job. I do the mix if it is VERY simple and broadcast specs aren’t that demanding. But I mix every clip to fall within the required db levels. There is a MIXER in the TOOLS menu that you can open up and use to mix your timeline.
