I am using Avid Xpress Pro 4.5 and an external Maxtor firewire drive (500G/ 7200rpm/ Win Xp SP2/ 1G ram/60G internal drive). When I try to export a quicktime reference file for encoding to DVD the process stops about halfway, and the firewire drive goes off. Then the process finishes with errors. My Omf files are on the external drive. Is there a problem with the drive? My project is 9 minutes long and in PAL.

If your drive shuts down, then there is a problem with the drive… can you consolidate to another or the internal drive to export from there?

    dont forget the mixdowns.
