Avid DVD by Sonic, packaged with MC
Hi — I’m trying to activate the DVD burning software that comes bundled with MC 3.5, and even though it installed properly, using the 17-digit serial number on the disc sleeve, it appears I now have to type in a 25-digit activation code in order to make it work (I guess knowing the serial number isn’t enough to prove I own it). My problem is that I have no internet access in the editing space I’m using, and if I try to run it using the “activate offline” option, it still tells me I need a 25-digit code. There’s no such code on the disc. It then says that I have to go to the Sonic website anyway and enter “this product key” in order to get the code. And there’s a blank space below the line, as if there WAS “this product key” written there. Nope, blank. My question is, could that 25-digit code (five boxes of five numbers) be the MEDIA COMPOSER’S code that came with THAT software, considering that they were bundled together? THOSE 25 digits, THOSE I’ve got. Thanks, and please forgive my exasperation. I’m just trying to burn a two-minute promo.

Hi David, were you able to resolve this problem? Althought I doubt it, did the activation code for MC work to AVID DVD? Posters on AVID forums have complained about conflicts with other Roxio/Sonic programs interfering with activation. Here is one: https://community.avid.com/forums/p/70786/395974.aspx My problem is that I cannot connect to the Sonic server, which may or may not be a blocked port on my company’s firewall, an issue I can resolve internally. Did you ever try to contact Sonic’s support department at 1-888-289-5307? Over thirty attempts, no success 🙁 Why don’t these programs just work if you have purchased them, installed them and registered them correctly!?!?!?!
