We recently purchased the Avid Studio Toolkit HD for use on our Avid Xpress Pro HD machine. After trying to figure out Avid DVD by Sonic for our DVD authoring needs, I have a few questions and I wondered if anyone could help out.

First, is there any way to force dual-screen functionality or get support for dual-screens? As it is right now, only certain windows will transfer over to the secondary monitor and the entire workspace cannot be spread across both monitors.

Second, is there a way to block remote control functionality for either movie segments or menus? We need to add copyright slides and “legal” info to beginning of our DVDs and we want to prevent these from being skipped over if at all possible. I’m used to authoring with Encore DVD and it is possible to do this in Encore, but I have yet to find a way to do this in Avid DVD by Sonic.

Any help would be much appreciated…

I found a workaround for the remote actions for copyright slates as long as I build them as “menu” items, but is there any other workaround for this?

I don’t use the low-end authoring systems, but your software is the same as Sonic DVD Producer, and you might find people who use it in the DVD Authoring forum on the Cow.

To block remote control functions, you are looking to disable “Uops” or User Operations. Search the help info in your software to see if you can find any info on that topic.

If you build a playlist with the copyright stills or movies without buttons on them, then people cannot click elsewhere. If you build the playlist so that the menu follows the copyright, then it should play through without being able to click elsewhere.

Also, of course, the first play feature.

Try this and let us know.
