Avid Crashes for no reason, force quit doesn’t work
The past two weeks I have seen my Avid suite incur more crashes than ever. They’re completely random, whether it is accessing a master clip or launching a project. I receive the bouncing ball of death and have to force quit. However, force quit doesn’t work. In the dock it still shows Avid as running and I cannot click Avid to launch. I can press command+shift+esc to my hearts content (or right click on the dock), and it will not close Avid. The only process is to either shut down or restart. When I restart OSX, the computer hangs on attempting to restart. This leads me to only pressing the power button to release it.
Things I have done: Deleted the site settings, and deleted the database of two drives and allowed Avid to rebuild the database. I have repaired permissions in disk utility. I have connected one drive to eSata (originally on firewire800). I used Diskwarrior to graph and rebuild 2 drives.
Here are two of the errors that I have had:
Assertion failed len =strm Get Position File/snapshot/relyintet51267750026/corew/core/projects/Mac/../../src/object/AobjDon line 592omfiHPDomanINiT FAILED file:RAID:msmMMOB.mdb_bad_MAGIC (when I saw this I deleted the database file on the Raid drive and had it rebuilt).
This morning my system took an extremely long time to boot.
Here are my system specs:
2×2.8Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon
6GB Ram
10.5.8 OSX
2TB RAID connected through eSata, 1TB eSata, 500GB firewire800
Avid 4.0
QT 7.6.4Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I’m running out of options. Thanks.
