Avid codec/After Effects
Good day all.
My issue is this:
Are there known errors causing crashes in After Effects 7 when using movies exported from Avid using the Avid CoDec?
I have encountered errors in After Effects when importing and using video — created in avid — that often disrupts the flow by either slowing down or crashing After Effects. Such errors state: “After Effects error: audio output problem. Undefined external error. (10::66)”, and “unspecified drawing error.” All of which occur after a ram preview or a render.
Since After Effects works well on other projects with video not from my avid, could there be a known codec issue or is this just a flakey issue that can be resolved with a re-install of software. Quicktime references do not work either, they simply start to render but stall and will not go any further. Also, I do not run Avid and AE at the same time.

HP workstation xw8200
intel Xeon 3.4GHz/3.4GHz
2 GB Ram
NVidia Quadro FX 1400
Windows XPAFter Effects 7

My issue *may* be similar and/or related, albeit a different platform:
After installing Avid Xpress Pro DV on my system (Macintosh Quad G5), none of my old After Effects projects would open without crashing After Effects either mid-load or just after loading. I also noted that Final Cut Pro would no longer load without crashing, as well.
I checked the crash logs on my system, and in both cases the programs crashed while loading Codecs.
After removing Avid Xpress Pro from my system (thank goodness for their Uninstall tool
