    HI guys! Here’s the deal!

I’m currently working for a tv-station, as a outside freelancer, who have asked me to deliver their Avid specs in the Quicktime dv50 pal sequence. No problem! -atleast not with a bit of avid dv-pal codec.

I can sucessfully open the quicktime file in quicktime player, but if i drag the file into Fcp. theres no picture, nor sound.

I’m working in final cut pro 6.06, and i belive this file might have been handled with a Fcp. 7.0 first.

    I’ve installed the AvidcodecsLE package.

Please help- anyone experienced this issue?

[Max Christensen] “I’ve installed the AvidcodecsLE packag”
    If so, that should work.
Have a look in Main/Library/QuickTime, and make sure that there is AVID Components or AVID Codec package over there.
AVID codecs should show up as an option in the list of available codecs when exporting with QT (QT Movie, QT Conversion, Compressor, etc, etc)
    Cheers,

    Well!! Everyone!

…After switching the Codec to another, (the same but from different source!) It looks to be working!

    BUT…

It’s not playing in the CANVAS window, as i play. And it looks rather pixilated in the viewer window when i pause.

    Anyone?

    Please advise!

Being not an Apple codec I guess you may need to render it to play it in full quality.
Try editing in a Apple DV sequence. Change to the codec you want right before exporting.

    …Ohhh my- What a mess!!

Forget the previous post. I have the picture in canvas when playing, but when i pause, it disapears!

    …and it looks rather pixilated.

YES! – it’s now an option, when i want to export as a QT -file, i now get the AVID DV format!

You need to render and set your canvas to 1005 to have an idea about how the picture look.

You can export to the codec of your choice.

    Hi Max,

I am having some issues exporting a Quicktime from Final Cut with an Avid Codec. Can you tell me where you downloaded the Avid Codecs from? I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Lori
