I am a music editor receiving change notes from the picture department on an animated feature film. We are having a problem with the change notes that are output from the Avid. Sometimes a group of deletions are being listed first and then a group of insertions. So you may have deletions that cover 200 feet or so and then the adds, making it impossible to tell that you only had, say an 8 frame insertion 45 feet into the particular group of events. We have “Group Deletions” unchecked. Is there any way to force the Avid to “pair” the insertions and deletions together or to make the change events occur in a certain order, so that the change list is more rational?

The problem may be in the naming of the clips, so alternatively I’m wondering if there is any way to “override” the order of the events in the change list so that similar clips will be grouped together.

Thanks in advance if anyone has ideas how this might be done.
