Avid Certified User test
I’ve been talking to some folks in Atlanta anbout some MC training, and I’m looking at going with a Media Composer “Certified User” package they offer. One thing they’ve told me is that thousands of people have taken the Avid test for that certification, but only like fifteen people have actually passed it. My question is: has anyone out there done this and are the numbers really that dramatic, in that the pass/fail ratio of that test is that high? I’m also open to any pointers. I’m tring to get my company to drop almost ten grand to send me to Atlanta for a couple of weeks with all expenses paid and the cost of the training…I’m just trying to get a little perspective on this test that I know my bosses are going to expect me to do well on.

It’s hard, I know that. An ACU definitely knows their stuff when it comes to Avid systems. I took the sample-exam on Avid’s website and failed it. I’m not alone. Then again, I didn’t study. 🙂
Regarding the 1000:15 ratio of pass/fail, I don’t believe those numbers…it’s not THAT hard. A guy I know has passed it, and while he said it was definitely challenging–and he’s no Avid guru–it wasn’t impossible. A look on the ACU members list on Avid.com shows 28 “current” ACU’s…though if you look at what they’re certified in, you’ll see that the list is extremely old (everyone is certified on either XPro 4.3 or Adrenaline 1.3). Hi there,
I know the original post and reply are very old, but I’m wondering if Avid still have any sample exams as that one is 404’d, or if anyone knows of any out there?
Not necessarily aiming to take the exam at the end, but practice tests would be a great way of tracking progress as I’m going through the books. (Beyond the mini quizzes at end of chapters)
