Location audio recorded directly to external hard drive. One of the headings in an Avid Bin is “scene”. I’d like to replace what is written here for all these audio files (the date and time of recording) with the scene number and take on the slates.

It lets me do it just fine without going into the “modify” pull-down. Anyone ever had a problem when they did this? I don’t want to create a speedbump for the audio post guy.

    Thanks in advance!

There is no problem in doing this, but the date and time is also useful information. There is a Shoot Date column that should be used for that type of metadata. Add the Shoot Date column to the bin, hightlight the Scene column with the date and time, and do a ctrl-D or cmd-D and select the Shoot Date column.

Then replace the Scene with the proper information.
