AVID backup
Posted by Cedric Jefferson on February 3, 2010 at 5:46 pmLooking for a low cost backup solution for my AVID Lanshare unit. Have seen CACHE-A, pricey, tape solution. Not interested. I’d like to build a server….
Any thoughts……Cedric

February 4, 2010 at 12:58 amWe use a WD Sharespace that backs-up the Media Spaces and Avid Shared Projects every Sunday Night at around midnight.
We haven’t had a major crash for about 2 years, but it is nice to know you can get back to what you had on Monday morning if it all goes to #*~%… -

February 4, 2010 at 5:33 pmCan you tell me more about how you have this WD sharespace working. Do you have it attached to the UNITY or to a Workstation? What software does it use to backup the system? can it do full or incremental backups, or both?

June 4, 2014 at 5:24 amYes Storage DNA can be a good option for those who need a data management engine , any software can do backup but managing your digital contents becomes a big time task.
Storage DNA comes with a MAM solution includes metadata tagging, complete metadata extraction support more than 160 formats ,it can backup project, sequence, bins, from FCP,AVID& ADOBE PP it can also do conforming from LTO. it can track your files instantly using metadata search, watching previews of you file and sharing it for approvals is easy with the web interface, SDNA use open LTFS underneath without any propriety wrapping on the data which allows people to sleep peacefully.
