File–>Import. It will convert the .mp3 on import.

As Michael said File>Import. It will convert to whatever audio settings are selected in the audio project/settings. For example, PCM, WAV, 24bit, 16 bit, 44.1kHz, 48kHz, etc. You can also choose whether you want the file to be a stereo clip or not, etc. as well as change overall levels if they are too hot.

An .mp3 will not import if it has DRM.

ha that is so strange. of course I tried it the way you suggested first but it did not work. Then I worked around it and opened the mp3 with quick time and converted the file to a mov and imported it that way. That worked fine. Now after I red your post I tried the file import standard way and it worked as well. Very Strange since before it did not recognize the format. Anyway thanks for the help…
