It has been a very long time since I posted on this site. Glad to see its still around.

    Hello,

I am running Avid Artist DNxIQ with Premier Pro and I get stuttering playback with encoded files (H.264). When I unplug Artist, the files playback normal. Raw files straight from the camera (Sony FX6) playback smooth with Artist. Any advice for the stuttering performance on encoded files?

    Hey Ryan,

It has been a little while since I edited on Avid hardware, but H264 seems to be one of the codecs it didn’t like much. Can you use a different “wrapper” for the file?

About the Sony FX6, in Premiere Pro, there is something weird going on with the codec from that and the FX3 camera. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Recently I wanted to transcribe some rushes. Had export audio to Wav file, and insert on time-line to make that happen inside PPro.

Haven’t got to the bottom of it yet why it is that footage from those cameras are not happy.

Regarding Avid, H264 is known to be problematic for editing. You can try using a different wrapper for the file to make it work better with Avid hardware<div>As for the Sony FX6 and FX3 cameras, there seems to be an issue with the codec that causes occasional problems in Premiere Pro. In some cases, the footage may work fine, while in others, it may not. If you need to transcribe rushes from this footage, you may need to export the audio to a WAV file and insert it into the timeline manually in Premiere Pro. It’s not clear why the footage from these cameras is not working correctly, and further investigation may be required</div>
