Avid and P2 Media HELP HELP HELP
Hi Friends, We’re in the 3rd day of shooting on 2 Panny 200s with the p2 cards and we desperately need a solution for our director to fit the following 2 parameters:
He cuts on avid xpress pro hd (mac) either on a MacBook Pro 2.0 with 1.75G ram Tiger
or G4 notebook 2 gigs ram 1.5 processor.We want to be able to view these files for playback on set now without having to compress to another format.
And he wants to edit on this setup later.
I understand how FCP handles this workflow.
What do we need for our solution ie g4/5 tower? – What arrays are available? Would a sata array of 10 drives striped 0 at 370mb/sec be enough for realtime viewing? All responces are appreciated.

Of course, you could also load FCP onto the laptops…which would simplify your entire workflow.
