  • Avid aaf project import to PPCS5.5 causes “Rendering Required files”

Posted by Andy Milne on December 12, 2011 at 2:17 am

Hi all. If I import an Avid project using aaf and make any changes to audio levels or durations PP pauses to “Rendering Required Files”. This gets a bit frustrating as any minor changes to the audio track means a re render. However if you import the same audio track directly into PP project media thee is no rendering if you change the audio characteristics. PP creates a new render each time for aaf linked files but not for direct imported files.

Has anyone come across this and found a solution. Is it a bug?

    Cheers
    Andy

I’ve only seen this happen when dealing with an audio file that has a speed change (ramp) on it. Do you have a motion effect on an audio file from the AAF? That’s what’s causing it.

Hi Ryan. Thanks for your comments. This was an experiment I tried prior to a client bringing in their MC project and I had used an mp3 file in the project. I didn’t have any ramp on the audio so guess it was the mp3 causing the problem.

    Thanks for your help.
