  • AVID 8.2 / iMac Retina – downgrade OS X

    Hi there,

we´re going to upgrade our 2010 MacPro to a Retina iMac 27″ i7. Right now Avid has not certified OS X Yosemite yet so we need to use Mavericks or even Mountain Lion. Has someone already experiences with the new iMac, Media Composer 8.2 and a downgrade?

    Regards
    Rafael

According to a post elsewhere by Marianna from Avid. Yosemite may be certified imminently. They are focused on getting it done.

If you can wait a bit longer, might be the best course of action.

For what it’s worth, I am running Avid 8.2 with Yosemite in my home system (non critical) 2008 MacPro. No issues.
I cloned my boot drive with Mavericks before upgrading, so I could switch back, if all hell broke loose. But I had no problems at all. YMMV.

    Thank you, John!

We´ll try an installation on Yosemite and see how that will work. But maybe in 2-3 weeks when the iMac should arrive they´ve already approved MC.

    Regards

We ordered the iMac some days ago and it´s estimated delivery is in about two weeks…

According to an Apple expert you cannot run the new 5k iMac 27 i7 with an earlier OS. You must use Yosemite.
