  • Avid 8.1 Search/Find Function Not Working

Posted by Mara Auster on March 12, 2015 at 8:10 pm

I have several 2010-2012 Mac Pro towers and brand new 2014 iMacs running with 10.9.5 and Avid MC 8.1 on a Facilis Terrablock system over several projects.

With 2 of the new iMacs the Find function in Avid is not working. Searching for clips that I know exist and are in open bins, it just says “No Results Found”. Seems to be working fine on the other systems. I’ve tried deleting the search database file for the specific computers. Nothing seems to be helping.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks!

Did you try new user settings? It’s always the first thing I try when my system starts acting weird.

Also make sure that in the settings tab of the FIND window that indexing is turned on.

I did both of those. What’s weird is if I open Activity Monitor it says that Avid Find is not responding.

I’m having the same problem. Avid MC 7.0.4.1

Just saw the AvidBinIndexer and AvidSearch Not Responding in Activity Monitor. Been refreshing media databases and trying to get fresh search indexes going but no results. No idea how to solve this issue. We have a large & constantly goring sound effects / music library, as well as several editors who need to be able to search.

Sorry to report that I never found a solution.

Are you deleting your search cache in the project folder? Are you on shared storage? Deleting the Avid MediaFile databases in this scenario will not do anything.

    I’m having this same issue.

We are on Avid 2018.12 on shared storage and the search function is not longer working.

The issue started with the Search Error: SQL could not be executed… very long error message. I attempted a few fixes, created a new user, deleted the MCState, and deleted the Search_DB for the user that was having issues.

The error message is gone, but now whatever I search for is “No Results Found.”

Any ideas for how to proceed? Thank you.

Quit Avid, delete _SearchDB_ file in SearchData folder, launch Avid.

    Hello community.

I have the same problem in MC Ultimate 2021.12.10

Search Error: SQL could not be executed. sql….

We’re working on a Nexis Storage workflow and at the moment of searching for audio & sound files (ctrl + F), it appears this error (Search Error: SQL could not be executed).

I was thinking deleting some Search_DB files may be the solution, but as I working in a multiuser setting, this have implications for the other users? Or any idea about this error?

I hope you can comment about this. Best regards!
