Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy avi transfer

I have some old footage that was saved as 2 large avi files and want to transfer them into Final Cut so I can make them into individual clips to edit. The problem is Final Cut doesn’t recognize them for me to be able to transfer them. Is there any way to get around this?

I’d recommend googling for ‘MPEG Streamclip’ and downloading it for this and future projects. It’s free and it’s great for making all sorts of footage editable in FCP, especially non-copyrighted DVDs.

Just drag and drop your .avi into MPEG Streamclip and export to Quicktime – choosing the format you’d like to edit in.
