    Hi,
I recently got Sony Vegas Pro 8 on my computer. But when I place an avi file into the timeline and play the video, the quality is really bad.
I can’t understand this because when I play it in windows media player the quality is so much better. Can anyone tell me why this is and if it can be fixed? Thanks

When your media is placed in the time line and viewed through the Preview window you will not get the same quality as if you view after rendering it or in a video player. You can increase the quality of the preview of course but you might get a jittery output. All your media must be rendered after you are done editing and then viewed with whichever player you are using.

Where did the video come from (camcorder or ???).
What’s the speed of your computer?

Also what do you have your preview ettings at in the preview window? If it’s set to draft, try setting it to good.
