I need to output an AVI from AE. It’s for a 32 x 12,600 pixel LED ad at a ballpark. Of course they need an AVI. Looking thru the output module I don’t see anything for AVI. (I don’t have Squeeze or Cleaner on my box 🙁

I see an “export” option as an AVI which uses Cinepak as the compressor. Will that be a true AVI and as high quality as I can get?

    Thanks in advance!!

I tried the export as an AVI option at best quality and it looks like a–.
    🙁
Is this the only AVI option I have available to me?

make a QT with anim or none codec.

open in QT pro and export to avi, none for codec and your set

    Thanks Dave and “masked man”,

Yeah…I already tried the DVCPRo codec thinking…this could be good….then I looked at the render and said…um…maybe not.

The export from QT Pro as an AVI worked like a charm. Thanks, “Masked Man”.
(Who uses AVI anymore anyway. I mean really. Sheesh.)

Yes, this puppy is veeerrrrrrrrry long and skinny. It’s for a huge LED screen display that spans almost the entire upper deck at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

    Thanks again.

Mac users use QT the rest of the world uses AVI. On my PC I can read and write any PC or Mac format because I have a ton of codecs. Mac users however generally have to buy codecs at a premium directly from apple and therefore have limited options unless they have bottomless wallets.

    Hello Arson X,

Would you like to drop the platform fanboy ravings??? Each platform has its advantages and its drawbacks. The Windows world isn’t giving away the Cineform codec, last I looked.

We try to keep this kind of inaccurate and sophomoric stuff off our boards.

    Thanks,
