avi-mpeg1 into vegas?

On one particular computer I use an (old) Pinnacle video card (PCTV Vision) to capture movie clips from vhs and dvd. I use AVI-MPEG.
Well I have a problem with opening that format into vegas – in order to edit it and render into, say, wmv. First I also experinced the problem with my mediaplayer (Gom player etc): only sound, but that problem was solved by downloading a codec: AVI-MPEG Decapsulation Filter (PIM1)
I thought that would solve my problem with Vegas (6), but I can still only open the sound track.
Could anyone help?

It may just be using a codec that Vegas doesn’t support. You will need to use a conversion program to re-encode it into a more editor friendly format. Something like Super(c) should do the trick.
It looks like that Pinnacle device can capture MPEG-2. For the future, why don’t you just use that format since Vegas has no problems with MPEG-2 files.

I’ll try that for now. And maybe I just have to buy a descent videocard/software!? I did managed to come around the problem by using Windows Movie Maker to produce a (raw) AVI file – but that’s to many steps for a little procedure…
