    Hello,

just wondered if i produce an AVI in After Effects from a Mac, then can that same AVI run on a PC windows Media Player 9.

Am very confused about this and following compressions. As i need to also compress a 10GB file down as small as possible without quality loss. ~AE only has a few codecs to choose from, cinepak comes out with an average quality but i havn’t played with the bit rate as i dont know how. Yet if an Mac AVI doesn’t work on a PC media 9 player this is a pointless exercise anyway.

Could a H.264 Quicktime be played on a PC? would I have to download Quick Time player for a PC?

    All and any help appreciated

    Thanks

    Charlie

QuickTime does not have a good selection of codecs for AVI. For that matter, Windows doesn’t come with very good AVI codecs either.

QuickTime is a much better choice, as Apple includes a wide selection of codecs. You do need to install QT on your Windows PC, but you should have it installed there anyway. 😉
