.avi has audio only?
Posted by Willie Bobo on October 29, 2009 at 7:50 pmI have three .AVIs that a client sent me; in V8 if I drag them onto the timeline or import media only the audio shows up…in windows media player they plat fine.
Your advice would be very much appreciated as my deadline is tomorrow.
Thanks very much,

October 29, 2009 at 8:06 pmIt sounds like your PC doesn’t have the correct video codec to display the video. I would download GSpot and drop one of the files into it and see what codec it uses. Then download and install the codec that you need. You also might want to ask your client what codec they use just to make sure.

October 29, 2009 at 8:56 pmYea Randy, very strange frame rate. See if GSpot gives you more information. If it’s AVC in an AVI container you might want to install the x264vfw codec and see if it helps. This has helped me with a lot of strange H.264 implementations in AVI’s.

October 30, 2009 at 1:08 amThe client initially brought over the .FLV version of the file. I said I had no software to convert it and he said no problem that he would convert it and these .AVIs are what I got. As I understand it, there is freeware to convert flv to avi….maybe I should just do that?
Thanks John!
