Avi files in sony 9
I would like to know why I can import avi files into sony vegas pro 8 and they work perfectly, but when I installed sony vegas 9, not a single avi file would work! I upgraded to sony vegas 9 yesterday and have quickly downgraded because none of my clips would play in avi format. Any ideas? I downloaded all of the codecs and tried most of the usual solutions. I’ve been all over the internet all day searching for a way to fix this.
I’m using vista and I run on 64 bit

AVI is just a container for video using any number of codecs. What is important is not that it is AVI but what codec is in it. Download the free utility called GSpot and drop the AVI file on it and it will tell you what codec it uses. Then make sure that the codec is installed.
If you are using Vegas Pro 9.0 64-bit then you will need the 64-bit version of the codec. If there is no 64-bit version of the codec, you cannot use the file in Vegas 64-bit. Use the 32-bit version of Vegas Pro 9.0 instead.
