AVI encoding
I am trying to encode a quicktime file into an avi for a client.
I am using episode engine to encode. I use it every day to encode to all kinds of formats and it produces perfect results.
For some reason every time I encode the file to avi, it comes out 4:3 and NOT 16:9 (which is what I need it as).
I’ve changed the settings in episode to make sure that the output file is definitely 16:9, but i still comes out 4:3.
Is this something with avi’s or is there something that I am missing?

It might be flagged as 16:9 but QT player just doesn’t display it. Is it 4:3 squeezed? Then in fact it is 16:9. Or does it cut the sides off and make a 4:3 out of a 16:9?

Play it on other players like VLC to see how it displays. As Rich points out, Quicktime probably isn’t recognizing aspect ratio correctly with the file format.
