Okay, I have about 30 hours of conference footage that needs to be compressed into AVI format. It will eventually need to get to Power Point and my client wants to pick and choose what he wants from the whole 30 hours, so I have to deliver in AVI. As I’m sure you all know the nativve AVI compression in FCP is bogus. It gives minimal options, and takes a long time to do, on top of that the file sizes are very large.
Are there any good compression plug-ins I should look into? Is there a program out there that can convert QT’s to AVI’s directly.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanx

Try to use AVI Dv compression. There are couple couple of them.
If FCP is too slow, try to use conversion software for that. Canopus Procoder is one of them. It can be quicker then realtime.
