Avery Peck video: satuation and color boost compared
Found this very helpful video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiqzRXeOloQ) that greatly clarifies these two very common functions, Color Boost and Saturation, but which are otherwise not discussed in any detail in the 2600 page Resolve 15 Reference Manual. Try page 2611. https://documents.blackmagicdesign.com/UserManuals/DaVinciResolve15/ReferenceManual/20181123-46b82e/DaVinci_Resolve_15_Reference_Manual.pdf
This wonderfully helpful video explains one of the zillion details that are otherwise NOT explained except with vague or generalized language, such as for Color Boost: to “raise the saturation of regions of low saturation, sometimes referred to as a vibrance operation. Can be used also to lower the saturation of regions of low saturation.” For saturation the manual gives a circular definition: “Saturation: Increases or decreases overall image saturation.” Duh.
Avery’s description and clarification with respect to the saturation feature is sooo helpful. Drives me nuts to have “mystery adjustments” which are labeled with common English words and have some obvious effect but one is left to guess what exactly is happening. Thanks, Avery.
