AVCHDF into FCP 7
Hello,
I posted before because I do have some issues with FCP and AVCHD. Now I am not sure anymore if there really is a problem or if I am just too picky. I feel that the quality of the image is very bad once imported into FCP (I shot on the Panasonic AG AF101)
I am not sure if the image is ok, I could swear it looks like low quality. I recorded the image in PH 1080/50, 0db gain. I Imported the material with FCP7 (log and transfer) and exported as H264 1920/1080. (Result same as ProRes 422 (HQ) in terms of Quality.
Is this picture alright or is there something wrong?Many Thanks,

Hi Freddy,
first of all, I do personally think, that if you shot on the AF101 to the SD Cards and not a Nano Flash or something else less compressed,
then there’s no need for ProRes HQ. ProRes or even LT will do.
I just had a project like this and no problems with the quality.
Why do you export as H.264? The final Output? Does just the H.264 look bad or already the logged & transfered ProRes material?Sascha

might be a compression reason based on the SD cards.
However I think, the image is less good when I import the data into FCP.

so try to convert the same clip once with FCP and once with another software – and see if it looks different.

Ive been having the same issue with importing AF101 footage into FCP 7.0.3.
I check the .mov files before importing them, and they look great. Once imported the quality is horrible.
I checked the timeline settings, and to my understanding they are correct (Apple ProRes 422 HQ).Can anybody help?

Try to covert footage in different way and see if it’s same result. For example with Compressor, Red Giant Grinder or ClipWrap.
