    I have the HMC 150.
I have a macbook Pro (Intel Core 2 Duo) 2.66 GHz
I Edit with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

Obviously the footage is a strain on my system. Its very slow & choppy when scrubbing & Editing.
I can’t change anything right now. What I have is what I have for at least a couple months (and I have some projects that are shot and need to be edited).

I have been editing the AVCHD footage directly. I have heard about converting it to DVC Pro HD and edit that footage. Any thoughts on that method? Will it help? Are there any free converters?

Any other advice (other than upgrade to a Quad Core +)?

@Jim I can confirm that using AME to convert the avchd to p2 style dvcprohd will pit less strain on the system and allow u to cut like dv. adding basic fast CC Effects will not require render to RT playback. I have same mbp specs and it works really nicely. Set the first file for export with the settings for dvcprohd and where to export to. Then import the rest of the clips and they will all follow the same settings and export place as the first one.
They will all export to a single folder structure and this is critical to keep all the folders/files it makes. Use the media browser to find and import the clips. Enjoy your edit.
