AVCHD to Pro Rezz to FTP
Hey,
I recently shot with the Panasonic AG-HMC40P camera (with AVCHD) which
needs to transcoded to Apple Pro Rezz (HQ) for editing in FCP.
Looks great!
But as an outputted movie, the file is real SLOW going through FTP.
Is there another output (maybe thru Compressor) format that I can use
that would provide a faster FTP product?
Also, I’m transcoding from AVCHD to Pro Rezz (HQ), would simply
Pro Rezz be good enough, and faster?

Hi Joshep,
You can not think of uploading Prores through FTP. Although compressed, still making very big files.
There are many options to make a smaller file while keeping high quality, but some are more or less convenient depending if the footage will be re-processed after the FTP or is just to be watched, broadcasted,, etc.

What format would you use for expeditious FTP?
This is for broadcast to cable.
Would you use Compressor?
What settings from FCP?
These are 4 minute HD segments for broadcast
shot in native AVCHD-PH.

That depends on what it will be used for.

Different stations have different delivery requirements. What type of file does the station you are sending it to want.

What settings from FCP? “Export out of FCP using current settings then use compressor to make a file that fits the requirements of the station you are sending it to.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
