Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy AVCHD Support?

I am considering purchasing the Sony HDR-SR1 as a consumer-level camera to use in a production, and am wondering if there have been any developments in the support of this format by Apple or the FCP team.

The camera looks quite good, for a consumer camera, and I’m hoping that we will see FCP support for it in the near-future. I’m anticipating demand for it once the camera starts selling out all over the place. It looks pretty feature-packed for a low end HD camera. Professionals may start seeing clients demand support for the format.

Here is a link to the camera’s spec sheet:

Please post to this thread if there are any developments in the plans to support the AVCHD format. I will be subscribing to this one, as I think Sony may be onto something here. It’s not an amazing camera, but for the price, it’s not bad.

No support for this format has been announced… One thing is pretty likely though, it would be announced until the product ships. Historically, this has been the pattern until 5.1.2 was announced. But it shipped shortly after the announcement in any event.
