Typical workflow is to copy all AVCHD card folder structures intact to a hard drive (one folder for each card). I then import the AVCHD files themselves into separate bins. Of course results in duplicate .mts file names but they all exist in their respective folders. These clips generally play fine at first, but occasionally, a few will begin playing video correctly, but the audio is coming from the identically numbered .mts file from a different card. Clearing cache, replacing or re-linking doesn’t (always) help. The correct audio always plays fine in QT. I’m guessing my audio cache files are not being stored in the right spot? Anyone else see this happening?

    Mac OS 10.12.6, PP 12.0.0 build 224.

Where are your previews being stored? In a dedicated cache? Or “next to original media?”

    Dedicated cache.

You’re doing the right thing by keeping the SD card structure intact in unique folders, but in Premiere you should also be using Media Browser for the actual import rather than File > Import. Give that a try on a NEW project.

In that case, I suggest changing it to cache “Next To Original Media.” If the cached files for the duplicate filenames from different folders are both in the same part of your dedicated cache, shenanigans may be ensuing as a result.
