Oh yes, also, uh… I have an avi with a non-constant fps, as it was played on a very slow computer. However, all the needed frames are there. How can I force all these frames into a constant FPS of my choice (60, for example) The recording is laggy at some parts, so the FPS isn’t constant

Not promising anything, but you need to post up the settings you are using to render the video.

Try getting a free ap called MediaInfo. You can right click on the video’s icon and see all the details of the video.Choose to see Text of the full data, and copy and post that in your message.

Alternatively post a small snippet of the video somewhere and give this thread a link.

That will go a long way to letting people help. The Youtube version gets so much more done to it that it’s useless as a diagnostic tool.

[Ethan Lu] “Alright, so here’s my problem. I’m recording a certain game on my HD TV in 480 p On screen, It appears really sharp and clean, like this video in HD”

Your video is not HD. According to MediaInfo it’s SD 720×480 which is why it doesn’t looks as good as the HD footage. Your HD TV is probably upscaling it which is why it looks better on TV. If you want HD you’ll need to record HD. Otherwise it looks about as good as SD is going to get.

BTW, I couldn’t download your source footage because it required me to sign up to download it. You should use a service like DropBox that doesn’t require people to join in order to share. If you don’t have a DropBox account and want to join, this link will get both you and I an extra 500MB of free storage. 😉

Yes, but the first video which I linked to was recording using the EXACT same settings, and was upscaling using the same settings. My TV was not upscaling, it’s just I caught a visual difference; the TV’s image was sharper.

The first video is only 720p but you are rendering your to 1080p. That’s a difference right there. Here is a link to my render from your video:

See if you think the quality is acceptable.

I’ve never heard of a video being recorded with non-constant fps. I’m not sure what you would do with it (sorry).
