My HDV camcorder has given up the ghost and I am looking at getting either the Sony NEX-FS100 or the Pani AF100 as a replacement. Both of these record in AVCHD. So, the question is, will I be able to edit AVCHD on FCP 6.0.6 or will I have to get FCP 7 or FCP X? Any recommendations, suggestions will be most appreciated.

As luck would have it, I am in mid production and I already have some HDV footage edited in FCP 6.0.6, which I will have to integrate into a future timeline in FCP.

    Thanks,

    e

You can convert avchd with mpge streamclip to Prores if final 6 doesn’t convert them in log and transfer.

Thanks Daniel, that’s good news. I would not mind staying with FCP 6.0.6
