OK, lets put it this way. It looks like Vegas 9 will save and burn a AVCHD file if it is imported as an mps from a camcorder for example. then it can save and burn a disk in AVCHD. What I want is to create a DVD in AVCHD from other material not on a HD camcorder. Does the Vegas pro editors do this? I’d be glad to spring for a pro version if that is what it takes.

You can render any video you want to the AVCHD format using the Render function in Vegas. It sounds like you are using Movie Studio 9 so as long as Movie Studio 9 supports AVCHD rendering you should have no problem.
