Avchd, 50i footage – project settings, transcode?
I have a digital camera with footage shot in avchd, 50i. When I drop it on a project in fcpx, the project is 50p. I’m going to screen it from QT on a tv, directly from my mac – mirrored – or is it a better way? Dvd? Should I change to 50i under project settings?
Should I transcode? Uggggh – confused!

50i = 25fps.
If you are going to play this from QT player it is best to set your project settings to 25p.
If you are going to make a DVD it is best to set your project settings to 25i.

And transcoding is just for the workflow? If the system handles my editing, I don’t have to transcode. It doesn’t influence the Finished result? -
If your system handles your footage natively you don’t need to optimize it to prores. This won’t affect the quality of your final master.
