Activity Forums Avid Media Composer AVC Intra

    I’m working with P2 AVC-Intra files on Media Composer 3.5.1 on a MacPro 16G Quad 3.2 2.5T.

I ingest the rushes into Avid in DNxHD

I’ve loaded the P2 QT Codec and QT reads rushes – Avid edits fine – everything is hunky dory EXCEPT when I export sequences from Avid as a QT ref or a QT movie. When I do that QT won’t read the part of the clips originated from the P2 media although it will read anything that’s been re-rendered or is graphics etc OK. If it’s a QT ref then it just grabs the last frame it can read until another comes along or if it is a QTM it just throws up the “Wrong Media” widow. This means I can’t use QT Ref to make client copies or export into AE and have to render everything and export uncompressed or as H264 all of which takes up time…

Anybody got any ideas? Is there another codec I’m unaware of? I didn’t have this problem with DVC-pro.

    Thanks for any help…

5 minutes later I realised it was something to do with the DNxHD resolution. I’d digitised at DNxHD 60. I transcoded the rushes to DNxHD 90 and DNxHD x 90 to test and everything worked OK.

So there you go. Just writing it all down helped!
