I recently upgraded to a new Imac from a 6 year old G4. Half of my video files are stored as av-0 files and they used to work fine on the G4. Now when they play on the Imac the video is fine but the audio is just static. Is there anything I can do besides re logging them. I don’t have access to the G4 anymore so I’m kind of stuck.

    Thanks for your help.

Did you log and capture these files? What format was your original hard drive?

    is it possible to recapture?

I’ve never met a Garchow before so you’re definately original.

I did log them myself and I don’t know what format the original hard drive was. There was a similar post from a year ago that offered a way to export the files and then re import them. Is this an option for me. I’m almost finished with my first feature length movie and I do have a self contained version of the movie that I could still work from along with the files that work which are .mov files. I just want to exhaust all options first. But re logging is not an option, there are too many files. Thanks for your help.

Yeah i was just kidding too, but anyway the files are from 500mb up to 4 or 5 gigs. I logged and captured all of them. Unfortunately I dont have access to the old G4 or to a camera to re capture, what would you do?

It was a joke since you’re JeremyG as well! 😀

Usually when this happens you have FCP setup incorrectly or your drive was not formatted properly. If in the log and capture window you set the files to split at certain moments, or certian file sizes, that’s one reason why you might get the av files. Another is that your drive is setup for FAT32 and the OS will automatically split your files into 4GB chunks. how big are those av files?

Do you have to relog or can you just recapture?

Did you originally log and capture or did you just capture now?

Well, if the media is not working there’s not much you can do except recapture.
