  • A/V going out of sync.

Some of my ripped mpg file’s are going out of sync in AFX, the Video seems very slightly sped up and the audio is cropped short at the end of the clips. At all point’s in the clips the audio and visuals are out of sync, audio appears to play at the right speed but the video as I said is sped up slightly.

These clips are 29.97 FPS mpg’s, I’m ripping these clips from DVD using DVD Shrink and then renaming the resulting VOB files to end in mpg. this normally works fine, I don’t often have a problem working this way, also the clips that are going out of sync in AE play fine in Realplayer.

I can’t see what to do, I’ve tried setting the composition FPS to different settings, nothing seems to work.

Anyone know what might be causing this problem? It seems worse with longer clips.

in addition to the possible codec issues, you might try switching the project settings (file>project settings) from drop frame to non-drop frame, or the other way around depending on the current settings.

Thanks for the pointers both of you, I fixed up the clip by ripping it in smaller sections, seem’s to have worked but it’s not an ideal solution and I have more clips like this to fix, I’ll try following your sugestions this time.

    Regards Richie.
