    Geetings, all –

This is my first post. I’ve been in the AVID world for years, but just took the plunge (happily)
into Final Cut. I’ve been working for a few weeks on a friends short with no problems at all.
Today, after reviewing some content and making a few cuts, I got this dialogue box –
    Autosave: File Error: Unknown File.

I’ve not captured any new media (working PAL 1080i 10 bit Uncompressed). I don’t want to
get heavily into a day’s work if and risk not being able to save it. When I first saw this, I’d
click OK and the box re-appeared 4 or 5 times before not showing up. I quit FC, shut down
CalDigit, restarted and seemed to be working fine, then…same message.

    Trash prefs, or…

(and, having been on the Cow as a browser only – in advance, you’re all great)

    Hi, Thomaxper.

    Welcome to FCworld,

Auto save error comes when FC believes it has no write privileges to that directory (although it has…) Always alright to check though.
A restart usually fixes the problem on my mac however deleting prefs and do a repair in disc utility’s is sometimes a necessity. Doing a “Save As” might fix your problem, however have not tried that myself yet.

    and:
Thanks to Ken Stone that made this!:

    good luck!
    Best regards Andreas

Many thanks, Andreas ( & Ken). Had to resort to FCP Rescue, but all’s well now.

I’m sure you’ll be hearing more from me…

    Best-
    Tom

    Many Thanks –
