    Hi

Is there a way of taking two different (closed) mask paths and automate a blend between them? Or does it have to be done by hand and keyframed? (ie frame 1 star frame 20 circle)

    Thanks in advance

If you paste the two different shape keyframes into the Mask Shape property then AE should automatically move from one to another. Note that both shapes will need to have the same number of vertices to properly blend, and this technique doesn’t give you a great deal of control over how AE decides to transform from one shape to the other.

yes… first you’d probably want to start with your two mask shapes. then, select the first mask path and add a key frame. now select the second mask path and choose edit>copy. select the first mask path, goto the frame where you want the second shape to resolve and choose edit>paste.

you can set the 2nd mask to none from the mask pulldown (default is ‘add’), since you won’t need to see it now.

scrub through the timeline, one mask shape should ‘morph’ into the other.
