  • Automatically put dissolves at every camera change?

Posted by Nick Dantonio on November 12, 2010 at 1:11 am

I’m using PP CS4, on a Mac, I am looking to add the same transition to all the camera angle changes after I’ve used the multi-camera window to edit the angles together.

I’m wondering if there is a way to (1) change the default time of the cross dissolve and (2) rather than dragging and dropping the transition for every camera switch, do this automatically?

    Thanks!

To change the default duration of transitions….Edit>Preferences>General
The quickest way to drop the default dissolve transition at edit points, first select only one video track where the cuts are (click on the name of the track, then use the Page Down key to navigate to the cut and Ctrl +D to apply the default transition…repeat as needed.

A quick way to add many transitions at ones is to select several clips on the timeline then go to Sequence and select Add default transition to Selection.

As mike wrote. Get the prefs set for transition duration. Then ad Ann wrote select all the clips to use the menu “sequence>apply default transition to selection”.

But, make sure you have the track/s active (name has a highlight grey) and if you don’t want audio to have the transitions you can hold the alt key while selecting the video or using the selection arrow.
