Automatically pause at chapter point
Posted by Dan on June 2, 2005 at 7:24 pmHi,
I am trying figure out if it is possible to pause or do a infinite loop at a chapter point. Basically I am trying to have a slide show where the user can skip forward or backward 1 picture at a time using maybe the chapter forward/backward button, is this possible?

June 2, 2005 at 8:11 pmThe only way I think I can do this is to set each picture as a menu and I will put 2 buttons as next and previous.
Does anyone know the maximum level of menu I can use in DVDA3?

June 2, 2005 at 8:37 pmLong duration is not good as different people absorb the material at different pace.
This is a actually a powerpoint presentation.
But my client wants this on a DVD so anyone can go thru this presentaton on their own pace using a DVD player instead of a PC/laptop (not everyone has a pc in some countries). My first thought was to ask them to just pause and play but depending on the machine, pause might go into a screensaver which is not what he wants.
I have about 40 slides so I will see if I can build a 40 level menu in 3 languages, I will report back later, thanks for the help

June 3, 2005 at 12:50 amSo, I’ve got it working with a 40 level nested menu and it does what I want it to do. It is a pain to get it working.
I found a software called PowerPoint2DVD and it basically does what I want it to do. It actually allows you to create a DVD out of 1 up to 8 PPT files and allows you to have automatic playback, manual playback and a thumbnail view of the same ppt file. The manual mode is really interesting as it basically plays a chapter (slide) for 10 seconds and then pause on that slide until you click either the forward or backward button. The only thing I don’t like about this program is that you have no control over how the button look and where it is placed on the screen.
Anyone know which DVD authoring program allows you to do that?

Thanks for the advice. I found that the longest duration I can set in the picture compilation is 15 minutes
