I was wondering if there was anyway to automatically change the file name when you click on the render button in sony vegas 9. When I click the render button, I want the file to be named 1, when i click it the next time, 2, and so on. Please help!

I don’t think you can automate the naming in Vegas Movie Studio. It always takes the name of the project as the basis for the render file name.

In Pro, you can probably use some clever scripting to achieve this, but unless you are doing some special multiple render, you’re probably ass well just manually altering the name before rendering.

Sorry I didn’t clarify, but I do indeed have Vegas Pro 9.0. Could you help me write a script? I don’t have the slightest clue on where to start.

You can use batch rendering tools with advanced naming capabilities, like Vegasaur Transcoder (it’s not free, but it has free 30 day trial period). It supports various name patterns (aka macros) that control how output files are named. Macros are specially formatted strings that can be used anywhere in the file name for automatic naming of the output files (in particular, pattern {c} will be replaced with the counter value – just what you need).

    Best regards.
