Automatic Duck from FCP to AVID-is this possible?
Hi all, I’ve looked for these answers on the forums but can’t find them, if they’ve already been answered- sorry for asking again!
FCP 7 to AVID Symphony 5.5.2
The situation-
I’ve received DnX 36 synced master clip dailies from the post house. I’ve also received Pro Res Proxy quicktime merged clips from the post house. The editor is using the DnX in Avid, the director is using the Proxy in FCP 7.We WANT to export the cuts in FCP to AVID and relink to the existing MXF files, NOT create new ones and note AMA link to the quicktimes. We want to edit the new AVID sequence with it connected to the original DnX media. I’ve got Automatic Duck FCP Pro Export.
Using autoduck I can get the FCP sequence into avid, it is the correct cut, very nice. When I try to relink to the existing MXF files (not created by autoduck from the pro qucktimes)- no dice. Actually the audio will relink, but the video tracks will not.
QUESTIONS-
1. Looking at the autoduck website, it looks like maybe this plug in is not designed at all for what we want to do? Maybe my only options with autoduck are -make new MXF media from QTs or AMA link back to the QTs once in AVID? Has anyone been able to do what I want to do with this plug-in?
2. Our AVID project and MXF files are DnX 36 and according to autoduck website it supports “1080p 24: DNxHD 115, DNxHD 175, DNxHD 175 X, 1:1, 1:1 10bit” – So perhaps this is just a no go all around?
